Can my name be removed from the waiting list for subsidized housing?
Yes, in some cases your name can be removed from the waiting list. Generally, you may be taken off the waiting list for one of the following reasons:
- If you ask to be taken off the list
- If you are asked to supply information by a certain date and you do not supply the information by that date
- If you no longer qualify for subsidized housing. For example, your income changes, and goes over the household income limit allowable for subsidized housing.
- If you accept an offer for subsidized housing, a Canada Ontario Housing Benefit (COHB), or a Windsor Essex Housing Benefit (WEHB).
- If you refuse one (1) offer of subsidized housing from a location you have chosen.
Can I appeal the decision to have my name removed from the subsidized housing list?
If your name is taken off the waiting list, you may request a review of this decision. Your request for review must be submitted in writing using the Housing Services Request for Review of Decision Form.
Staff at the Central Housing Registry can provide information about how to obtain a review form and how to submit your request for appeal if you are taken off the list and you do not agree with the decision
